Sleeping Dogs (2024) Former policeman Roy Freeman suffers from Alzheimer's, which makes him unable to remember his past. Before he can receive treatment to restore his memory as much as possible, the doctor recommends that he train his brain by solving puzzles. This will help restore his brain cells to some extent.
Roy finds an old case file that seems suspicious, where the suspect is about to be executed in a few days. He decides to investigate the truth about the case again. He asks his closest colleague, Jimmy Remis, to help him investigate the case, even though Roy himself can barely remember anything about Jimmy.
Roy investigates until he finds Richard Finn, who might be useful for the case, but Finn dies from a drug overdose. After that, Roy reads Finn's writing about working with Dr. Joseph Wieder, who was murdered in the case that Roy is investigating.
But it seems that the closer Roy investigates to the truth, the more it reveals that someone close to him might be involved in the case, and his past memories start to return little by little. It might be a memory that he himself wants to forget, because it might make him unable to accept the truth for the rest of his life.
